Retake Mass Effect campaigners stand behind charitable donations

Although BioWare has vowed to address their complaints, the charitable campaigners behind Retake Mass Effect haven't withdrawn their financial support.

The Retake Mass Effect campaign launched a Child's Play fundraiser, which was shut down at the charity's request due to unclear messaging on how the two were related. Child's Play offered refunds to anyone confused by the scheme.

Despite this perfect excuse to withdraw donations, gamers are sticking by their gifts.

"The percentage of money refunded [in the wake of retake Mass Effect] was very comparable to our normal amount of refunds," charity spokesperson Jamie Dillon told Joystiq.

"And the rest of the donations will go to providing kids with video games, books, and toys to make their hospital stays a little easier."

Retake Mass Effect was launched by fans unhappy with Mass Effect 3's ending. Although BioWare stands by the events of the ending, it will release a free Extended Cut update which provides more information and closure, in the hopes of addressing many concerns.
