Resistance: Burning Skies multiplayer detailed, trailered

Nihilistic Software has detailed the multiplayer portion of Resistance: Burning Skies.

It will contain eight-player multiplayer, 2v2 and 4v4, Quick Match mode, Vita's Party application for private or group matches, and Rank Up mode in which players will be "rewarded with bonus XP for daring feats of skill." Players can also modify and customize their weapons and unlock various boomsticks and upgrades from the story campaign as they Rank up.

Online play also features three game modes – Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and a third mode which will be revealed next week.

There will be six playable maps ranging from the Staten Island streets to the docks of Bayonne with voting available prior to each match

To connect, players can use Wi-Fi and 3G and participate in an array of social features such as leaderboards and “near”, which is Vita’s location-based service. Those who use it will be given a new social perk awarding players XP multipliers to carry over into multiplayer mode.
