Resident Evil producer nabs The Long Dark film rights, here's a live action trailer to get you in the mood

The Long Dark releases this week, and by amazing coincidence, we have some videos about it.

The Long Dark is a crowd-funded survival game set in the frozen north of Canada in the wake of a geomagnetic apocalypse, from a team with some impressive credits to their names.

It raised over $250,000 on Kickstarter back in 2013 and sold 250,000 units in the first four months of its early access release despite being feature incomplete, building to 1.3 million sales over the next few years.

Now with its narrative campaign in place alongside the survival sandbox, The Long Dark releases in full this week for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and developer Hinterland has produced not one but two trailers to mark the occasion.

The Make it Right - Wintermute release trailer is pretty good but for the purposes of leading into the second half of the article let's check out the live action one, Elegy, instead.

Apparently Bolt reached out to Hinterland after becoming a fan of the survival sim, but creative director Ralph van Lierop has always intended for The Long Dark to "span multiple mediums, exploiting the storytelling potential of each form".

“Partnering with Jeremy on this project is the first step in achieving that vision of true cross-platform storytelling in the world of The Long Dark," he said.
