Resident Evil 2 No Way Out Walkthrough - How to Unlock and Complete the No Way Out Scenario in Resident Evil 2 Ghost Survivors

The Ghost Survivors DLC for Resident Evil 2 introduced a fourth hidden mode, in which you play as the cop that gets killed during the gas station section of the game. In this Resident Evil 2 No Way Out guide, we'll be explaining how you can complete this tough mode, in which you need to kill a total of 70 zombies.

If you instead need help with any other areas of Capcom’s stellar remake, you can head over to our Resident Evil 2 walkthrough guide. Here you can find not only a complete beginner’s guide to surviving the nightmare in Raccoon City, but also a list of essential tips and tricks that all players should know.

How to Unlock No Way Out in Resident Evil 2

As we mentioned at the top, No Way Out follows the sheriff from the very beginning of Resident Evil 2, the one that gets eaten in the gas station right in front of Leon/Claire. The Ghost Survivors DLC is a bunch of ‘what if’ stories, and this one follows the doomed Daniel Cortini.

In order to unlock the No Way Out scenario and play as the sheriff, you firstly need to complete the three main Ghost Survivor campaigns. This means completing No Time to Mourn, Runaway, and Forgotten Soldier. Note that it appears as though you can complete all thre chapters in either the standard difficulty, or the easy Training difficulty, and still unlock No Way Out.

How to Complete the Resident Evil 2 No Way Out Scenario

The main thing to note about No Way Out is that it’s incredibly difficult, up there with Hunk’s Fourth Survivor mode. The basic premise of the mode is that Cortini is holed up in the gas station, awaiting to be eventually rescued by a certain someone. However in order to be rescued, he needs to defeat a certain amount of zombies.

The amount of zombies you need to kill to complete No Way Out is 70. Yes, that’s 70 total zombies killed, not rendered limbless with bullets to the legs or arms, but outright killed with their heads exploding in glorious gory detail.

Luckily, you’ve got infinite ammo for Cortini’s pistol. Although you have to reload periodically when you’ve drained a magazine, you’ve got infinite ammo reserves, no don’t be afraid to really let loose on the horde coming for you through the store’s back and front doors.

Every now and then, you’ll see a moving backpack marker pop up on your screen. This means that a zombie is carrying a backpack and moving towards you. If you can kill this zombie, you can loot the backpack that it drops. This is essential if you want to make it out of the No Way Out scenario alive, because the backpack can grant you healing items like green and blue herbs, as well as new weapons for Cortini to use, like Claire’s spark shot.

Throughout No Way Out, you’re going to come into contact with increasingly difficult zombies. Below, we’ve listed out all the different types of tough zombies, including information on how to take them down for good.

  • Gasoline Zombies - There are some zombies which have red tanks strapped to their backs (for some reason). Shoot the tanks to make them explode, dealing out huge damage to the surrounding area.
  • Cyborg Zombies - Yes, there are zombies with cybernetic limbs. While the electronic limbs won’t take damage, this doesn’t protect their heads from being shot.
  • Riot Zombies - There are zombies in full riot gear, with bullet proof vests and riot headgear. To take these zombies down, you have to blow their legs off, then go behind them, aim up into their helmet, and blast away.
  • Poison Zombies - These zombies are actually brand new, and only feature in the Ghost Survivors DLC for Resident Evil 2. Take them out before they get too close, or you’ll end up with your health continuously getting worse.
  • Blind Zombies - Nope, we don’t mean Clickers. These very strange looking zombies are completely naked, covered by some weird substance all over their bodies. You need to pump as many shots into their head as possible, until they’re down for good.

Thankfully there is no Mr. X, because X is not going to give it to you. But there is a hidden Mr. Raccoon statue within this level. Go to the back door of the store that Leon/Claire go through at the beginning of the game, and when a zombie opens the door to come through, you can see a shoot the Mr. Racoon statue on the box behind the door in the corridor.
