Limited Resident Evil 2 1-Shot Demo coming this Friday to PC, PS4, Xbox One

Following a leak, Capcom has now made the Resident Evil 2 1-Shot Demo official.

Update: Capcom didn't even wait until this Friday's livestream and decided to announce the demo today. The Resident Evil 2 1-Shot Demo launches on PC, PS4, and Xbox One this Friday, January 11.

As suggested in the leak, the demo will be available only until January 31, and allows players to experience it for just 30 minutes. You're given a mission objective which can be completed within the time limit, and you're free to restart as many times as you want within that window.

Regardless of how you do, you'll be rewarded with a new cut-scene, available only to players of the demo. Capcom clarified that the demo cannot be restarted if the time limit has been reached.

Original story: In December, the Xbox Store briefly published a description of a Resident Evil 2 demo called 1-Shot. The information was picked up by True Achievements at the time.

The site typically gets word of achievements and other store updates early, and it usually has a solid track record when it comes to these sorts of early reveals. It's been nearly a month since the discovery was made, however, and Capcom has yet to make an official announcement.

The demo is back in the news again this week because the original reveal had a January 11 date associated with it - that's this Friday. If the demo is indeed going to launch on Friday, it would make sense for Capcom to drop the news sometime this week.

The publisher is hosting a livestream this Friday at 12pm UK with producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, and director Kazunori Kadoi. This would be the perfect platform to announce and immediately release the demo, assuming of course that is indeed the plan.

According to the original leak, the one-shot demo has a time limit of just 30 minutes. You'll be able to die in the demo as many times as you want, but you won't be able to play past the 30-minute limit.

It'll also feature the Raccoon Police Department level, but we're not sure if there are other limitations in place as far as content. Interestingly, the description says the demo will require an active internet connection to play, a requirement the full game will not have.

Finally, the leak mentions January 31 as the end date for the demo's availability, which isn't totally surprising. It's also worth noting that while a similar page hasn't leaked on the PlayStation Store, both platforms will likely receive the demo.

In fact, PS4 players may even get it early, seeing as Sony has been co-marketing the game with Capcom, unlike in Devil May Cry 5's case, for instance.

As soon as it's been confirmed, you'll hear about it here.
