Report - The Old Republic set for September release

MCV's reporting that Star Wars: The Old Republic is set for a September release.

The BioWare MMO, first announced in 2008, was given a spring release target last year by EA CEO John Riccitiello and Star Wars IP owner LucasArts.

The title is part of a blockbuster year for BioWare, which sees Dragon Age II out on March and Mass Effect 3 launch by the end of 2011.

EA's previously said it sees The Old Republic as a ten-year "opportunity".

The game's run-in to launch hasn't all been roses, though. Last year, it was reported that $300 million had gone into The Old Republic and it would be "one of the greatest failures in the history of MMOs".

It's also been noted this week that EA investors are not at all confident that the title will do well.
