Report: PlayStation 3 hackers restore OtherOS

Hackers have reportedly circumvented Sony's firmware removal of the PlayStation 3's OtherOS feature, which historically permitted the user to install a version of Linux on their console.

Games Industry reports the OtherOS++ patch has been seen roaming the wilds.

Notorious hacker Graf Chokolo has given it a seal of approval, noting that it'a "very useful for HV hacking" and grants complete control over the PlayStation 3's memory.

The removal of the OtherOS option in March 2010 has been a rallying call for hackers, and has been cited as the motivation for the widespread release of information enabling less savvy users to whip up custom firmware - and pirate games.
