Report - EA pushing Need for Speed film adaptation

EA has reportedly name dropped The Fast and the Furious while shopping around for someone to make a Need for Speed film

Variety reports EA has asked producer John Gatins, whose credits include Real Steel, Dreamer and the upcoming Flight, to develop a pitch for the film. EA would co-produce, with George Gatins writing.

The pitch is said to be doing the rounds at the moment, with Paramount, Sony and warner Bros indicating interest, and a "low-seven figure range" expected for the bidding war.

There have been 18 Need for Speed games so far, and the series has generated over $100 million for EA. The last entry, The RUn, was the most cinematic and plot-driven of the franchise so far, but did not go down well with critics.
