Remember Me was originally called Adrift, had jetskis

One of Dontnod's original concepts for the game that eventually became Remember Me had the player zipping around a flooded coastal city on a jetski.

Speaking with Gamespot, creative director Jean-Maxime Moris revealed that the team conceived of a world flooded by global warming, so wanted to set the game in a coastal city like Sydney, Tokyo or San Francisco, rather than Paris.

"The main character would have to navigate with a wakeboard, grappling from one jetski to another," he said.

A few months later, the team became interested in the idea of memories, and shifted its thematic focus away from global warming. As a result, the iconic features of Paris seemed like a good fit, although Moris expressed reluctance to be "that French studio doing that French game".

Remember Me is coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early June.
