Remedy is working on a new game in the Control and Alan Wake universe

Remedy is building towards a connected universe.

With the recent reveal of AWE, Control's next expansion, Remedy officially confirmed what fans suspected for a while: that AWE is centred around Alan Wake.

But as we now know, this is only the beginning of Remedy's ambitions. In a blog post published shortly after the trailer went live, the Finnish studio announced the Remedy Connected Universe - a place where all its games will take place.

Though we did get an official name for it, the idea itself isn't particularly new for Remedy. The developer has been dropping hints and Easter eggs about this in its various games, lightly suggesting a single universe where all its stories take place.

"Slowly, patiently, behind the scenes, we’ve been planning and plotting to make this a reality," said creative director Sam Lake. "I’m absolutely thrilled to tell you that now, the time has come to take the first concrete step on this road, establishing Remedy Connected Universe."

"The AWE expansion is the first official Remedy Connected Universe crossover event, bringing more Alan Wake lore into Control," he added.

Lake also confirmed in the same blog post that Remedy is currently working on a new game that takes place in the same universe, but didn't reveal any details beyond that.

Remedy, of course, previously announced that it has multiple projects in the works, two of which will be published by Epic Games as part of the company's new publishing label. One is described as a AAA project, while the other has a smaller scale.

It's not yet clear which of the two projects Lake is referring to there. In case you missed it, Remedy is also creating the campaign for Crossfire X, which we recently watched a demo for, though Matt wasn't quite convinced it has enough of Remedy's trademark flavour.
