Reggie: "One of the biggest risks today in our industry are these inexpensive games" on mobiles

NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime is of the opinion that inexpensive App Store games and the like are a bit of a threat to the industry, and cause the consumer to expect gaming content to be cheap across other formats.

Speaking in the latest edition of GTTV, Fils-Aime said there are exceptions to the rule, though, Angry Birds being one example.

"I actually think that one of the biggest risks today in our industry are these inexpensive games that are candidly disposable from a consumer standpoint," he said. "Angry Birds is a great piece of experience but that is one compared to thousands of other pieces of content that for one or two dollars I think actually create a mentality for the consumer that a piece of gaming content should only be two dollars.

"I actually think some of those games are overpriced at one or two dollars but that's a whole different story."

File-Aime was speaking with GTTV in New York during Nitendo's reveal of 3DS to the American press.

The new handheld is out in March.
