Rayman: Origins sales could speed Beyond Good & Evil 2

Ubisoft has hinted that if Rayman: Origins is successful enough, producer Michael Ancel will be greenlit for other projects - like the long-requested sequel to Beyond Good & Evil.

“If all the people that love Beyond Good & Evil understand [Ancel] is more than a one trick pony and if Rayman: Origins does well, it gives him more leeway for other opportunities because he has to build up his studio,” Ubisoft's Tony Key told Industry Gamers.

The recent success of the original Beyond Good & Evil is helping chances of a sequel, too.

“Beyond Good & Evil HD is doing very well on PSN and Xbox Live and there's a lot of people coming back, and if they choose to do a sequel the audience is bigger than before,” Key said.

Rayman: Origins is a four player co-operative platformer, expected on PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 this month. The US gets it November 15, while PAL territories have to wait until November 25.

"Just like how Beyond Good & Evil had a whimsical style but included gameplay for adults, Rayman: Origins will appeal to more than just younger gamers," Key assured potential Beyond Good & Evil 2 supporters.
