Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a PS5 exclusive and is not coming to PS4

Insomniac has confirmed that the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is exclusive to PlayStation 5.

In a post on Twitter, the developer responded to a question about whether that title would be coming to PlayStation 4 and it turns out that the answer is a solid no.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was announced for the PS5 in June of this year. The title showed off many of the PlayStation 5's features in the form of ray-traced reflections on Clank's character model, as well as the hardware's fast loading times thanks to the console's new SSD.

Given that quickly moving from world to another thanks to improved loading times seems pretty integral to the experience, it seems unlikely in retrospect that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was ever coming to PlayStation 4. Still, it's nice to dream. You can also check out seven minutes of gameplay for the upcoming and flashy-looking sci-fi platformer here.

Rift Apart allows people to choose between playing at 4K with a 30fps or a lower resolution at 60 frames per second. That awesome-looking female Lombax from the first trailer is also playable, by the way, which is neat.

A number of PS5 games are coming to PS4, too, including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West.

The PlayStation 5 is launching on either November 12 or 19 depending on where in the world you live. You can find out everything you need to know about Sony's new console right here. The company recently detailed its accessibility features for its upcoming and flashy new machine.
