Rainbow Six Siege creators and core team members are moving on to a new project

Big changes are afoot within the Rainbow Six Siege development team.

The core development team of Rainbow Six Siege is leaving to focus on other projects, Ubisoft has announced. Longtime creative director, Xavier Marquis, and brand director, Alexandre Remy are taking a few members of the Siege team on a new adventure.

Marquis and Remy have been the face of Siege since its inception, and helped bring the initial vision to light, and turn the game into the phenomenal success it is today. Much of the game's development team is unchanged, with game director Leroy Athanassoff continuing to lead their efforts.

The veteran leads did not hint at what they've set their sights on next, but said that their presence on the team is no longer necessary for its success.

"There was a time during which the game was depending heavily on us, during its genesis at the beginning," said Marquis. "But now the game has an extra piece. It is kind of a sphere, there is the game and its community."

Athanassoff added that the new core team is expanding the game's universe, and working on building more "inclusive" content and features that benefit all players.

"We said it before and we'll say it again: Rainbow Six Siege is here to stay," said Craig Robinson, senior community developer.

"Leroy and the new core team have learned so much from Alex, Xavier and the rest. Leroy has a vision for the future of Rainbow Six Siege that everyone here in the studio is very excited about."

It'll be interesting to see what that team comes up with next.
