Amazon hires Rainbow Six Siege's core creators to develop a new multiplayer game

Amazon has opened its fourth game development studio.

Amazon has announced today the establishment of a new development studio in Montreal, Canada, under its Amazon Games banner. The new team is lead up by Luc Bouchard, Alexandre Remy, Xavier Marquis, and Romain Rimokh - and will focus on creating original AAA games.

Bouchard, Remy, Marquis, and Rimokh are names that should be very familiar to Rainbow Six Siege players. The veteran developers have been the face of Rainbow Six Siege for years, having contributed to its inception, design and continued evolution. Marquis, and Remy left the Siege team in December 2019, to work on a different project within Ubisoft.

It's not clear when they left Ubisoft for Amazon, but all four form the core leadership of the new studio. Luc Bouchard is the team's head of production, while Xavier Marquis will steer the process as creative director. Alexandre Remy will be its head of product, and they are joined by Romain Rimokh in the content director role.

Today's announcement shared few hints about the studio's first project. It did confirm, however, that it's going to be an online multiplayer game with a "unique experience," based on a new IP. Amazon Games Montreal joins existing teams in Seattle, Orange County, and San Diego and it's going to be part of the company's continued efforts to make a fun video game.

Amazon's next in-house release is the MMO New World, coming to PC August 31.
