PUBG's most recent Xbox One patch stabilises performance somewhat, but Xbox One X still has the advantage

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds received some server-side updates recently on Xbox One, and Xbox One X to help with the myriad of performance issues in these versions.

PUBG developer PUBG Corp communicated some of these improvements when it released the first patch on Xbox One, but it seems more work has been done behind the scenes.

As the game is still in Game Preview, some of the changes may not stick around, and there's a potential for things to get better or worse. That said, the most recent update does indeed touch on the game's performance, as noted in a new Digital Foundry analysis.

According to the report, the frame-rate reaches a stable 30fps after landing faster than when PUBG initially launched. Those early moments are still plagued with performance issues, but things become much more playable a lot quicker. This is true on both Xbox One, and Xbox One X.

Performance in general is still erratic, though, and the presence of other players seems to cause more issues.

This also carries over to the drops seen when traversing the map in a vehicle. Xbox One X has the advantage, still, and it's the same in graphical effects like depth of field in the looting menu, and texture quality and AA everywhere else. In one scene at the end of the video, both players are in the same spot firing at the same targets, but only Xbox One X can maintain 30fps.

Seems there's a lot more work to do.
