PUBG PC update 26 adds flare guns to world loot, brings new vehicles, more

The 26th update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds released on PC live servers this morning following a week of testing.

Today's PUBG PC update is 12GB in size, and brings new content that is mainly Vikendi-focused, but also features a few other interesting additions for all maps.

First, the flare gun, previously available only during specific events, is now part of the world loot on all maps. Though it's incredibly rare, you can expect the flare gun to behave as it did before, with some tweaks. Firing it outside the safe zone will spawn in an armoured UAZ, whereas firing it from inside will call in an airdrop.

This updated version, however, will only work after the first blue zone phase. In other words, you may not be able to call something in as soon as you find the flare gun. Further, the game will display a message when a nearby player has called in a supply drop, and even mark its location on the map. It seems the risk is now greater than ever, but judging by the loot you get, it's probably going to be worth it.

The snowbike, which was abruptly pulled from patch 25 just before release, has returned as part of the new update. There's also a new Vikendi-exclusive vehicle: Zima, a UAZ replacement that seats four, and handles better on snow compared to other road vehicles.

During testing, PUBG Corp. introduced an early attempt at a fix for the issue that causes weapons rate of fire to be affected by framerate. This particular change is not present in the live version, as the developer wants to ensure it doesn't break anything else before rolling it out.

The next test patch will likely expand on this solution as PUBG Corp. does further testing.

Finally, update 26 comes with a few enhancements to the store preview feature, and the replay editor. Head over to the official blog for a full round-up of the changes.
