PS5 shows exactly how long you've played your games

Sony has finally implemented a sure-fire way of telling us how long we've played our games.

For years, PS4 owners have had to rely on a bit of guesswork to figure out, exactly, how much time they've spent playing certain games. This changes with PS5.

As review coverage of PS5 has revealed, the PS5 has a built-in playtime counter that displays the number of hours played with each game.

Gamespot noted that the user profile page now lists all the games previously played, how long you've played each one, and when you last played them.

Those details are immediately visible, and the counter appears to be more accurate without so much rounding errors. Even better, the page also includes PS4 games in those stats, so you'll finally figure out exactly how many hours you've spent playing games like Destiny.

This is indeed a very welcome touch, particularly since it's something that existed on other platforms for years.

In other PS5 news, the console UI does not allow players to move PS5 games onto an external drive, for now at least. PS4 games can go back and forth, but not PS5 games.

PS5 launches November 12 and November 19, depending on where in the world you may be.
