PS5 has now sold more than 10 million units

The PlayStation 5 has sold its first 10 million.

Sony announced today that it has sold 10 million PlayStation 5 consoles to consumers, as of July 18, 2021. This makes the PS5 Sony's fastest-selling console ever, outpacing the PS4.

Alongside revealing this impressive milestone, Sony also shared sales figure updates for a number of the most popular PlayStation games. Spider-Man: Miles Morales has now surpassed 6.5 million units sold to consumers. PS5 exclusive Returnal has shifted over 560,000 copies, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has now sold more than 1.1 million copies.

MLB The Show 21, which is the first game to also see release on Xbox platforms, is unsurprisingly the fastest-selling title in franchise history, with over 2 million units in sales across all platforms.

"While PS5 has reached more households faster than any of our previous consoles, we still have a lot of work ahead of us as demand for PS5 continues to outstrip supply," said Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO, Jim Ryan.

"I want gamers to know that while we continue to face unique challenges throughout the world that affect our industry and many others, improving inventory levels remains a top priority for SIE."

The PS5 launched November 12, 2020.
