PS4 stock levels in the UK "still not enough," says Sony

UK MD Fergal Gara moves to reassure consumers that demand will be met, global 4.2m sales is a "suppressed figure."

At the announcement of the PS Vita slim this morning, Sony's UK managing director Fergal Gara said that his territory is still fighting to fulfil demand at retail.

The company has announced sales of 4.2 million units globally, but Gara pointed out that the system is yet to launch in Japan and is still under supplied in key retail markets.

"We are still not satisfied, we are still not in stock fully at retail," he said.

"Of course we haven't launched in Japan and we're still not fully meeting demand in other major territories. That [4.2 million] is a suppressed number and one that will grow considerably from here.

"The UK is a big chunky part of that. I'm very proud we got our fair share of stock, but it's still not enough. We want more, we need more. Retail is still not stocked fully."
