PS4 digital games cost as much as £63 in the UK

PlayStation 4 comes out in the UK this Friday and the nation's PlayStation Store is already open for business, with digital game prices going as high as £63, which is sometimes higher than their digital Xbox One counterparts.

Eurogamer reports that prices on the PlayStation Store are much more expensive than the retail prices in the UK. Of note are EA game prices, which are consistently the highest on the list. EA has five games available on the store, namely FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, NBA Live 14, Need for Speed: Rivals and Madden NFL 25, all priced at £62.99.

Games published by Ubisoft, such as Assassin's Creed 4 and Just Dance 2014, are priced at £58 and £43 respectively. Call of Duty: Ghosts is however priced at £54.99 which seems to be the closest to Sony's first party offering, namely Killzone Shadow Fall and Knack, which are both priced at £52.99.

What's more intriguing is the price difference between digital games on the Xbox One Games Store and the PlayStation Store, for instance all EA games are £8 more on the PlayStation Store, while Ubisoft games are £3 more.

It is worth noting that all game prices in the US for first and third-parties are at $59.99, and as Eurogamer notes, Microsoft and Sony do not set the price of third-party published games on their digital store fronts.
