Project Phoenix confirmed for PlayStation 4, Vita

The all-star development team behind the classic JRPG-style Project Phoenix has come through on its promise to try and bring the game to more platforms, confirming that PlayStation 4 and Vita are both go.

The new platforms were announced in a Kickstarter update, noting only that the confirmaiton was the result of "long negotiations and discussions".

"Although not every single detail about the release has been finalized, we’re proud and excited at the prospect of developing for the Playstation platform," Creative Intelligence Arts wrote.

The developer is working on adding new, platform-specific pledge tiers to its PayPal-based crowdfunding page, so those who missed the Kickstarter can buy in to the newly-announced ports. Existing backers will be able to switch their pledge to their platform of choice at a later date.

Project Phoenix was announced for Linux, Mac and Windows, with mobile and console ports as targets. It's expected in mid-2015, and boasts veterans of Final Fantasy, Halo, Crysis, L.A. Noire, World of Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, and Soul Calibur, with a bland of western and Japanese design elements built around a core RPG and squad tactics. It will have 50-60 hours of gameplay.

The Kickstarter asked for $100,000 but made three times that in a single day; it closed on more than $730,000 from just 12,153 backers.

Thanks, Gematsu.
