Pokemon Unite closed beta gameplay footage emerges online

Better watch quick before the videos are taken down.

New footage from the upcoming Pokemon Unite has leaked online.

GoNintendo has been compiling gameplay footage as it appears on YouTube, though videos are being taken down pretty damn quick. So far, we've been able to see characters including Garchomp, Cinderace and Greninja in motion, while Eurogamer reports a now-deleted video showed what Pokemon Unite's monetisation looked like.

One user on Twitter has posted details about the game's battle pass, which apparently lets players unlock cosmetics for their brawling critters.

Pokemon Unite was revealed back in 2020 for both mobile devices and Nintendo Switch. It is being made by both The Pokemon Company and Tencent's TiMi Studios.

The project is essentially a MOBA, with two teams of five pocket monsters fighting against each other and trying to score the most points. Players can also defeat or capture wild Pokemon, which lets you level up, evolve or learn new moves for your critters.

A Pokemon Unite closed beta test was rolled out earlier this month in Canada, but only for Android devices. The Pokemon Company said when this was announced that beta players aren't allowed to capture or stream gameplay from Pokemon Unite, which is no doubt why footage is being taken down.

Unite is just one of many Pokemon games that are currently in the works. Just last week, The Pokemon Company announced remakes of DS titles Diamond and Pearl. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year.

Meanwhile, the firm also revealed a new kind of Pokemon game in Legends: Arceus. This appears to be a 3D open-world action RPG that has been compared to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Yesterday, VG247's Alex Donaldson said that Legends has "incredible potential as a spin-off secondary series."

We also recently got to see more footage of New Pokemon Snap, which is being rolled out next month.
