Pokemon Sword and Shield has an Auto Save feature and shared experience

Pokemon Sword and Shield will auto save in the background as you play, and Game Freak has done away with the Exp. Share item.

Pokemon Sword and Shield does away with the traditional method of saving as the developers have opted for an auto save feature.

According to a Game Informer interview with director Shigeru Ohmori, the game will automatically save in the background. This means you will no longer have to write a report to record a save.

While the auto save feature is enabled automatically, you can opt to save using the traditional method by turning the feature off.

Elsewhere in the interview, Ohmori revealed your Pokemon will share experience from the onset. Game Freak has done away with Exp. Share, a held item which splits experience earned during battles to all Pokemon in your party.

Instead, all Pokemon in your party will automatically gain experience as you progress.

During the interview Ohmori reiterated cut Pokemon from Sword and Shield will return in other titles, and that like Sun and Moon, Hidden Machines will not be making a return.

You can pick the game up when it releases on November 15.
