Pokemon Rumble U to challenge Skylanders with NFC tech - report

Pokemon Rumble U is ready to go all Skylanders on us. Reports suggest the upcoming Nintendo game will ship with a line of physical Pokemon figures that can be used in-game.

According to Serebii, the latest CoroCoro magazine has revealed the toys will go on sale alongside the game's Japanese launch on April 24. The title is suggested to implement Near Fields Communication technology, which will allow the Wii U to read the figures and produce them on screen. Such a formula has worked mightily well for Skylanders, as noted by Disney Infinity's interest to do the same.

Serebii outlines the game will cost around $19, with individual figures pricing up at around $2. Six standard and one special toy will go on sale at launch, most likely including Pikachu. Bless you.
