Pokemon Rumble Rush will be taken offline one year after its release

Pokemon Rumble Rush will be shuttered in July just one year after it was released on Android and iOS.

Pokemon Rumble Rush, the free-to-start Android and iOS title, will go offline on July 22.

In an effort to go out with a bang, the team behind the title has announced events leading up to the game's closure, according to Serebii.

There are two Battle Royale events being held. One is the Shaymin Cup which runs April 22-May 6. The other is the Zygarde Cup which runs May 13-27. The Battle Royale events will also feature special participation requirements (thanks, Nintendo Everything).

The main event will be Greninja and the Wonders of Kalos and it will be live May 6-27.

On May 27 an update will go live and will add new Pokemon to the game and allow players to visit more areas.

Released in July 2019, the game started life as Pokeland before it was evolved into the game currently available. In it, Pokemon battle through stages, picking upgrade materials along the way similar to the Wii’s Pokemon Rumble. Players are able to call in a summon to help during tougher fights.

The islands in the game also change every two weeks and are repopulated by different Pokemon.
