Pokemon Masters Evolution: How to Evolve Sync Pairs

Just as in every other Pokemon game, you can evolve Pokemon in Pokemon Masters. Here’s how.

In Pokemon Masters, you’ll collect pairs of Trainers and Pokemon called Sync Pairs. There’s changes to the combat too, with Pokemon Masters focusing on 3v3 battles of Trainers and Pokemon. Evolution is slightly different too, and you’ll need to jump through a few more hoops if you want to get to the next form for each of your Pokemon. To help you out, we’ve put together this Pokemon Masters Evolution Guide. We’ll cover the steps involved in evolving a Pokemon in Pokemon Masters, and detail the new moves that can be learned upon reaching a Pokemon’s final form.

Pokemon Masters Evolution

Evolving Pokemon works a little differently in Pokemon Masters than in previous games. First, you’ll need to hit a certain level. From some of the pre-release trailers we’ve seen Barry & Piplup evolving at level 30. Once level 30 is hit, a new mission type called an Evolution Mission is awarded. You must complete the mission in order to complete the evolution of a Pokemon. After that, you’ll need to hit a new level cap to evolve a Pokemon further, if applicable.

Pokemon Masters Final Evolutions

Each Pokemon in a Sync Pair in Pokemon Masters will have a final evolution level. Upon hitting this final form, you’ll unlock a brand new Sync Move for that Sync Pair. This is extremely valuable, given how powerful Sync Moves are in Pokemon Masters.

Pokemon Masters Evolution Levels

Pokemon Masters does not follow the same guidelines as mainline Pokemon games where evolutions are concerned. Piplup is shown as evolving into Prinplup at level 30 in the trailers. This is much higher than the level 16 requirement in the base games. Once we have Pokemon Masters in our hands, we’ll start to compile a list of Pokemon Masters Evolution Levels below, so you can work out when all of your Pokemon will evolve. We know of many trainers that can evolve, but do not yet know at what level, we've listed these as N/A and will update when we can.

  • Barry & Piplup - level 30
  • Rosa & Snivy - Level 30, 45
  • Agatha & Gengar - Mega
  • Kris & Totodile
  • Bugsy & Beedrill - Mega
  • Pryce & Seel - 30
  • Karen & Houndoom - Mega
  • Noland & Pinsir - Mega
  • Korrina & Lucario - Mega
  • Wikstrom & Aegislash

Some Pokemon Cannot Evolve

Note that not all Sync Pairs can go through evolutions. We'll be keeping a regularly updated list of these Sync Pairs below:

  • Player's Pikachu
  • Brock's Onix
  • Blaine's Ponyta
  • Brawly's Makuhita
  • Brendan's Treeko
  • Clay's Palpitoad
  • Grant's Amaura
  • Lt. Surge's Voltorb
  • Maylene's Meditite
  • Ramos' Weepinbell
  • Roark's Cranidos
  • Roxanne's Nosepass
  • Roxie's Whirlipede

Pokemon Masters Mega Evolutions

Some Pokemon can undergo Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Masters. These include Gengar, Lucario and Houndoom. To mega evolve them in battle, just trigger their Sync Move. This will power them up and give them new type attacks.

Pokemon Masters Evolution Cost

Before heading on the evolution mission for a certain Pokemon, you'll need to get yourself some Evolution materials. These will cost you coins, and the cost will vary depending what deals are live in the store. Pick these up in the 'Exchange Items' menu in the Shop. It'll cost you three evolution shards to enter the first evolution battle. The next evolution will cost you three Ecolution Crystals, these will cost you more than the shards.
