Pokemon Let's Go trailer shows off partner powers

Nintendo has revealed new details about the upcoming Pokemon Let's Go, Eevee and Pikachu editions, including ways to interact with partner Pokemon.

Pokemon: Let's Go will launch in Pikachu and Eevee variants in just two months, which means Nintendo has been showing off what makes this game stand out. The latest example is a brand-new gameplay trailer that showcases the game world, secret techniques, and partner-exclusive moves.

Partner moves are special abilities granted to Pikachu or Eevee that no other Pokemon can use. When not in battle, a menu icon lets you pet or play with your partner to increase your relationship with them. Once that relationship reaches a certain level, Pikachu and Eevee will unlock unique abilities. Pikachu can access Pika Papow, an electric attack where power increases based on your relationship level. Meanwhile, Eevee has a similar power titled Veevee Volley.

Pikachu can also unlock Splishy Splash, a Water-type attack that paralyzes opponents. Eevee's other exclusive moves include Bouncy Bubble, Buzzy Buzz, and Sizzly Slide.

The trailer shows off a few other gameplay features. For example, Pikachu and Eevee have secret techniques that can be used in the game world to make travel easier, such as chopping down trees or gliding across water. The "Sky Dash" move also lets players fast-travel to cities they have already explored.

Pokemon Switch Bundle:

In other news, Nintendo also announced that it's releasing a special edition Pokemon Switch to accompany Pikachu and Eevee. The package includes the Switch console, Pikachu and Eevee coloured Joy-Cons, a digital copy of one of the game versions, and the Poke Ball Plus accessory.

Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu and Pokemon Let's Go, Eevee launch for the Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018. Don't forget to check out our coverage of exclusive Pokemon and the game's online features.
