Pokémon Go player is mugged live on his Twitch stream

A PSA on what can happen when you're wandering the streets alone at night.

All manner of things have been reported on Pokémon Go players since the app's release, from finding dead bodies, to robbers setting lures at pokéstops to catch more than a few wily pokémon.

Twitch streamer Rickeybot was recently the victim of an assault and robbery while playing Pokémon Go and the entire thing was captured on his live stream.

According to the thread on reddit, Rickeybot was near Central Park at around midnight when he was knocked to the ground and robbed.

The assailant fled into the park and eventually disabled the phone, cutting off the stream. His face was caught on camera and people on the thread have been eager to post higher quality and lightened images to help identify the attacker.

The man hasn't been apprehended yet, but after spending an hour with the police, Rickeybot was on his way to hospital to check out his jaw.

If anything, these stories serve to ram home the message that we should all be aware of - don't wander around alone, at night, in shady areas, taking no notice of your surroundings - particularly when you're staring at a brightly lit piece of tech worth hundreds of pounds. As much as we'd all like to live in a world where doing this is perfectly safe, we don't.

Criminals exist and we all have to take common sense precautions to avoid becoming a target. Be careful out there.

We wish Rickeybot a speedy recovery.
