Pokemon GO Earth Day event will reward players for cleaning up trash along the coastlines

Pokemon GO players will earn extra goodies if enough players participate in an upcoming event.

Ninatic Labs will host a Pokemon GO event on Earth Day this month in support of Mission Blue.

Mission Blue is a non-profit, global initiative which strives to establish a network of marine protected areas around the globe.

On April 22, local cleanup events around the world will take place and Pokemon GO players who join the cleanup will help all players earn extra Stardust.

If enough Trainers attend, the following rewards will be handed out to all players worldwide:

  • 1,500 attendees: 2× catch Stardust for Grass-, Water-, and Ground-type Pokemon for 48 hours
  • 3,000 attendees: 3× catch Stardust for Grass-, Water-, and Ground-type Pokemon for 48 hours

You can find local cleanup areas through the Pokemon GO Earth Day event page. At present, it appears the majority of cleanups in the US will take place along the gorgeous Atlantic coastline of North Carolina.

There's also a local cleanup in San Francisco and one at Ka‘Ehu Beach in Wailuku, Hawaii.

Hopefully, enough will attend to not only clean things up, but unlock rewards for everyone.
