Last month in Tokyo a mystery Pokemon game clip was shown at the end of a video during the Pokémon Games Show. It appeared to show an HD Pokémon game. Veteran Pokémon director Junichi Masuda has now shed some light on the clip.
Masuda has identified the video as a concept for where Pokémon games might go in the future. Speaking to Nintendo Life, Masuda said: ""That was actually a video which was shown at the Pokémon Games Show, an event in Tokyo last month and it was showing the history of Pokémon games as well as the future. It was kind of a concept about what the future of Pokémon may look like."
The upcoming Pokémon X and Y for 3DS represent the biggest departure, at least visually, from previous Pokémon games, showing that developer Game Freak is opening up to the idea of making changes to the tried-and-true formulas. So it's very possible that this is a very early glimpse of what Pokémon games might look like in the future.
