Pokemon boss: Nintendo trying to "change the concept" of the "console device or a hand-held device" with NX

Despite all the purported leaks, insider information and rumors, we all know next to nothing about Nintendo's upcoming console. Someone who does seem to know more about the console than the public, is The Pokemon Company's CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, even though he isn't saying too much about it.

Speaking with The Wall Street Journal, Ishihara told the financial outlet Nintendo is "trying to change the concept" of what it means to be a "console device or a hand-held device" with NX.

Whether this is confirms the rumor of NX being a hybrid of sorts isn't easily determined by his statement, but it's sure sounds that way.

Furthermore, Ishihara said his company "will make games for the NX." Since standard Pokemon games are always a handheld release, going way back to the first generation on GameBoy, this is an interesting comment.

Of course, he could be referring to Pokemon games such as Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Rumble or other offshoots of the series. Which is possible - unless NX is indeed a console handheld hybrid. Only NintendKnows. Okay that was cheesy. Apologies.

The Nintendo NX has not been formally announced, but the console is slated for release sometime in March 2017.

A formal reveal is expected sometime this year, but Nintendo has to confirm exactly when.
