PlayStation Suite SDK makes cross-platform content easy

Game developers, listen up. Sony's putting the finishing touches on a present for you, and we think you should act grateful. Revealed at Tokyo Game Show, the new PlayStation Suite SDK does pretty much what it says on the tin - it's a Software Development Kit for both PS Vita and Android OS, meaning you can create twice the games in half the time.

Technically, the SDK allows you to create casual games (of a varying degree) for a "wide range" of platforms, with Android handsets and the handheld PlayStation Vita at the head of the pack. Once your game's complete, polish it up and sell your wares on the PSN Store, maybe making a few bucks to spend on your next purchase.

On stage, the example shown was a simple side scrolling space shooter named Zero Gravity - and from what we could see, the gameplay was pretty much identical on both the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY and the PS Vita, the game running smoothly on both devices.

If you're a developer looking for an easy way into mobile gaming, this one could be for you. PlayStation Suite SDK goes into beta in November, so keep your eyes peeled.
