PlayStation Store wallet gets mobile top-up option, Sony explains how it works

PlayStation Store customers can now top up their online wallet and make purchases using their mobile phone, Sony has announced. The company has sent over a guide on how it works.

In a press release sent to VG247 this morning, Sony confirmed it has worked with mobile payment company Boku to create the feature for all UK mobile phone service providers.

You can make payments using mobile by visiting the Sony Entertainment Network Account Management website and the PS3 version of PlayStation Store.

When adding wallet funds, customers can now choose “mobile” as their preferred payment option. They must then enter their mobile phone number and will receive a text message shortly after.

They can confirm the wallet top-up by replying to Sony's text, which will then be added to their next mobile phone bill, or deducted from their pre-paid account.

Vice president at Sony Network Entertainment Europe Gordon Thornton, said in a statement, “We are always looking at new ways to give our customers more choice in terms of content, accessibility and payment methods, and are pleased to be able to offer the option of mobile operator billing, which are becoming more and more popular.”
