PlayStation Mobile dev portal opens, SDK available to all

PlayStation Mobile has opened its gates to all developers wanting to publish their creations on the platform. The PlayStation Mobile Developer Program is now taking registrations from all applicants. Check out the details below.

Over on PS Blog US, Sarah Thomson, senior manager of mobile content acquisition, declared the program open to all, and revealed that the PlayStation Mobile SDK can be downloaded for just $99.

All developers need to do is head to the PlayStation Mobile Developer Program site, register and pay the fee. The site is full of FAQs about how Sony does business, such as how it sets retail prices for submitted games and more,

Thompson and Sony hope the move will encourage an influx of content on PS Vita and PlayStation Mobile platforms, adding, "We believe we’re in a ‘golden age’ of game development and the Dev Portal lowers the barriers of entry for developers to create and publish titles including games directly to the most die-hard and passionate fans in the industry.

"Our goal was to make publishing game and non-game titles for PlayStation Mobile an easy and enjoyable experience, and we’ve been working hard to ensure that the new Dev Portal accomplishes this objective."

Would lowering the barrier of entry for developers see an increase of indie software on PS Vita and other formats? What games would you like to see added? Let us know below.
