PlayStation Classic launches this December, comes with 20 games including Final Fantasy 7

Following the success of Nintendo’s nostalgia-tinged hardware releases, Sony is launching its own mini version of a classic console.

“Almost 25 years ago, the original PlayStation was introduced to the world,” said the PS Blog announcement. “Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, it was the first home console in video game history to ship 100 million units worldwide, offering consumers a chance to play games with real-time 3D rendered graphics in their homes for the first time.

“Today, we are excited to announce that we are bringing back the original PlayStation experience in a new miniaturized version – PlayStation Classic! The console will come pre-loaded with 20 classic titles, including fan-favorites such as Final Fantasy 7, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms.”

The console is around half the size of the original PlayStation and comes with two classic controllers so you can batter your mates on Tekken. You hook it up to your TV with a HDMI, included with the console.

Sony hasn’t yet announced the full lineup of games, but the PlayStation Classic releases on December 3 and costs $99.
