Playr2 survey - 64% of parents don't check age restrictions before allowing their children to play

According to a survey conducted by UK website Playr2, of the 1221 parents who participated in the questionnaire with children aged 17 or younger, 64% said they didn't check the ratings on the game box to see if the game was age appropriate for their children.

Of those who admitted to not checking the ratings, 55% said they "did not think age restrictions mattered on video games."

When asked if they were concerned over their child playing a game with an 18 age restriction, 51% said "no".

Participants were also asked if they felt violent games could possibly make their children more violent with 61% responding "no."

The site's founder, Simon Kilby, said the findings were "really surprising" considering ratings were given to games and other medium "for a reason."
