To celebrate the upcoming release of Frostpunk, developer 11 Bit is making This War of Mine free to play on Steam for a limited time.

This War of Mine, the studio's previous hit, is a strategy/management survival game that explores the rarely explored toll of war on average civilians.

You're tasked with keeping a group of beleaguered civilians alive in a war-torn country, and the game constantly asks you to make difficult decisions that impact the lives of everyone involved.

It's very tragic, and manages to convey its messages through gameplay systems in a way survival games typically do not.

If you head over to This War of Mine's Steam page, you'll be able to download the game free of charge. You only have until Sunday, April 8 to play it, as this is not a free copy.

Frostpunk is due April 24 on PC.
