Play Modern Warfare 2v2 this weekend on PS4

Fancy a game of duos? Modern Warfare will let you, for the weekend.

If you're a Playstation owner, that is. PC and Xbox One owners will have to stick it out a few more weeks to get their hands on the 2v2 competitive mode. But starting August 23rd, Sony players will get to take part in the Gunfight open alpha.

There are five maps to run and gun across: Stack, King, Speedball, Docks and Pine. They're largely what they say on the tin, ranging from open pine forests to cobbled harbour streets and the required box-storage warehouse. It's still a Call of Duty, after all.

Here's what you need to know about Gunfight's "multi-round cage match". You've got one life, one buddy, and two foes to take down each round. It's first to six, and don't try and wait it out. After 40 seconds, a flag spawns, and you've only moments to grab it.

It's short, brutal, and looks a hell of a lotta fun.

Pre-load for PS4 kicks off on August 22. The rest of you will get a shot when Modern Warfare's beta goes live September 12.
