PlanetSide: original game going free-to-play, SOE confirms

PlanetSide, the 2003 MMO shooter from Sony Online Entertainment will go free-to-play at some point in the future, according to the company's president John Smedley.

Smedley took to Twitter to announce that SOE is currently working on the idea. Here's the chain of tweets regarding the matter, although obviously, read it from bottom to top if you're a fan of chronology:

What he's referring to is a promotion that will give PlanetSide 2 players six months of free time in the original game, with a view to transitioning the first PlanetSide to a fully free-to-play format.
