Plague Inc: Evolved will launch through Steam early Access on February 20, initially on PC with Linux and Mac to follow. Pricing has not been announced, although an FAQ indicates it will be more expensive than the mobile version.

The PC port has had quite a polish up with 3D graphics, and packs in new features including both co-operative and competitive multiplayer, post-game statistics and a scenario editor.

"Plague Inc: Evolved lets me to do stuff that I couldn’t do on mobile and allows more people to experience the game," creator James Vaughan said in a website update.

"I really want to emphasise that the original Plague Inc. on mobile will still be just as much of a focus for me. I have taken a lot of care to ensure that updates can easily be applied to games on both PC and mobile – meaning more content for everyone. Watch for an announcement on the next mutation for Plague Inc. very shortly."

"Very shortly" is quantified elsewhere on the game's website as "within the next few weeks".

An infection simulation, Plague Inc managed over 25 million downloads on mobile. It has players attempting to exterminate the human race by creating and managing a super virus.

Thanks, Polygon.
