Pikachu 3DS XL will release in North America week after next

Nintendo has announced that the adorable Pikachu 3DS XL will release in North America after teasing it overnight.

The yellow handheld with the big, happy face on it was first released in Europe back in December, and comes with a 4GB SD memory card for $199.99.

It will land at retail the same day as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, and a special bonus - announced during the last Nintendo Direct - will be available for those who purchase the game and a 3DS XL system.

Anyone who registers a Nintendo 3DS XL system and either Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity or Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon with Club Nintendo between March 21 and April 30 will receive a code to download one of five Nintendo 3DS games for free: Super Mario 3D Land, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!, Star Fox 64 3D or Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive.

The Pikachu 3DS XL and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity both release in North America on March 24.
