Paradox-Ruffian partnership over, publisher "re-evaluating" Hollowpoint

Paradox is no longer working with Ruffian Games on Hollowpoint.

You may not remember Howllowpoint. The game was first announced at gamescom 2014, and looked like an interesting co-op take on Shadow Complex.

Everything went quiet for a while, until it resurfaced again this past E3 with a new trailer. As you may have guessed, not much else was heard afterwards as well. That's because Ruffian is no longer working with Paradox on the game.

Speaking to GameWatcher, Paradox revealed that its publishing deal with the British studio is no longer active.

"Today we would like to announce that the working relationship between Paradox Interactive and Ruffian Games on ‘Hollowpoint’ has been amicably terminated," a spokesperson told the site.

"After recent ongoing discussions between the two companies, it became apparent to both parties that the creative vision for the project was diverging and so the decision was ultimately taken to cease our co-operation in order to serve the long-term interests of the game.

"We would like to thank Ruffian Games for all their hard work and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours. Paradox will be re-evaluating the creative direction of 'Hollowpoint' internally before making any final decisions."

Not only that, but Ruffian had apparently stopped working with Paradox last summer, as the studio told Eurogamer.

Ruffian's next game, Fragmental, is currently on Steam Early Access.

Hollowpoint was to be among a raft of titles that would come to PlayStation 4 first, as part of a new Paradox-Sony arrangement. This deal has since brought us Magicka 2.

Here's the game's final trailer:
