Paradox reiterates next-gen console plans, also pushing for mobile

Paradox Interactive does indeed have plans for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, among the many irons it has sizzling away in the fire at present.

As reported by Shack News, presumably in attendance at the Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis publisher's annual convention, CEO Fredrik Wester said Paradox plans to bring games "based on existing and new brands" onto next-gen consoles.

"You can be a truly digital publisher on the new consoles," he said.

"Previously [they] were closed systems, but now I feel like they're focusing on giving gamers better experiences."

Shack's report suggests some of these releases may appear in 2014, as it goes on to note that Paradox "also" has plans to release more mobile games over the course of the year, thanks to the establishment of a new dedicated mobile team.

This isn't the first time Paradox has indicated its interest in PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; Wester has been clear he wants to develop for every platform, especially the more open ones.

The traditionally PC-focused company, which has made forays onto consoles in the past, has also said whatever it makes for PS4 won't be "a cheap port".

Paradox is having a bit of a field day at the moment thanks to its convention, including announcing Hearts of Iron 4. Check our Paradox publisher tag for more coverage.
