Paper Mario The Origami King: Where to Find the Soul Seed

You'll need the Soul Seed to rejuvenate your new tree friend in Paper Mario The Original King. Here's where to find it.

At the start of Paper Mario The Origami King you'll be whisked off to the Whispering Woods where you'll encounter a tree called Ol' Gransappy. He has lost his mojo, so to speak, and needs an item called the Soul Seed to feel like his old self again. The Soul Seed is fairly well-hidden, so we've put together this guide on finding and rejuvenating it. Here's where to find the Soul Seed and what to do with it once you have it.

Where to Find the Soul Seed in Paper Mario The Origami King

To get the Soul Seed you will first need to head back the way you came, to the entrance of the clearing where you found Ol' Gransappy. There is a tree which you can bop with the hammer, the one Mario is standing in front of in the screenshot below. Hit the tree and a Magic Circle will appear. You can then use the 1000-fold arms to knock the gold ball open, which will give you a shrivelled seed. This isn't the Soul Seed just yet, so continue reading to see what to do with it.For a look at finding all of the collectibles in this area, head here.

Where to Take the Seed

You'll have received a shrivelled seed in the first step in this guide, you'll need to rehydrate it to turn it into the Soul Seed. To do so, head back to Ol' Gransappy and out the other exit. Follow this path until you reach the lake. You can then place the seed into the lake to get the Soul Seed. Take the Soul Seed back to Ol' Gransappy and give it to him. He'll grow back into his younger self, and you'll get a great little musical number as a reward. For a look at how to solve a later puzzle in Whispering Woods, head here.
