Pachter: No "readily apparent buyers" for Activision Blizzard

Industry analyst Michael Pachter said it's unlikely Vivendi will sell off Activision Blizzard, because nobody can afford it.

"While a sale of Activision Blizzard is likely the preferred route for Vivendi, we assign a low probability to this outcome, as, in our view, there are not any readily apparent buyers," the Wedbush Morgan analyst said in a note to investors, as reported by GamesIndustry.

Pachter said Activision Blizzard is too big for another US publisher to purchase, international publishers are unlikely to be interested, and US media groups are wary of gaming's "spotty track record".

"We believe a spin-off of Activision Blizzard is a far more likely outcome," Pachter added.

The analyst firm still backs Activision Blizzard stock strongly.
