Ouya rolls out to Target stores across the US, demo kiosks to follow

Ouya isn't giving up the fight. After some well-documented troubles of late, the console is coming to Target stores across the United States this month, with demo kiosks to follow early next year. Previously not every store at a single retailer carried the console. Now it'll be present in all 1800 Target stores.

Speaking to Polygon, founder Julie Uhrman said that this "allows us to do national campaigns and have a national footprint."

As a result, the Ouya box art is undergoing a redesign to "highlight and promote more games and new content."

From November, Target will be promoting the console via and in-store video trailer and a promotion for a $10 game card with the purchase of the console. This will be followed in December by the addition of customised Ouya shelf displays. Demo kiosks will begin to enter stores in the new year. How many go out will depend on how successful they prove.

Uhrman says that Target decided to increase Ouya visibility thanks to customer demand, and that the company is currently in talks with Wal-Mart. "I would expect... us to announce something with them soon," she said.
