Ouya launches "Free the Games Fund" initiative for Kickstarter projects

Ouya have launched an initiative called "Free the Games Fund" which the firm will add $1 million to in order to help double the funding of successful Kickstarters should the developer chose to the make the game a six-month timed exclusive on the console.

Game projects will have to launch on the crowd-funding service in order to be considered by August 9, 2013, and be successfully funded and developed by August 10, 2014. Each must also have at least $50,000 in total funding pledged - this amount does not include the initial amount needed for funding, just that the TOTAL must reach at least 50K.

Ouya will then match 100% of the total funds up to $250,000.

An additional $100,000 will also be paid to the developer who raises the most Kickstarter funding by the end of the program, according to Gamasutra.
