Outriders inventory wipe prevention patch released

People Can Fly has released a patch that should prevent Outriders players from having their inventory wiped due to a bug.

The Outriders patch has been deployed on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. This patch addresses a bug that has, since the previous update, caused inventories of players to be wiped.

It does not restore the items lost, it only prevents the issue from happening in the future. The team is working on the restoration process now, as the restoration process is run via the server database. It will not require a patch to be implemented, and more news on restoration will be coming soon.

According to the studio, with the new patch, some players may occasionally encounter multiplayer connectivity issues and see inventory items being momentarily invisible. This is a known but only temporary behavior, and is part of the team's "three-step inventory safeguarding measures."

Restarting your game or waiting a few minutes and then restarting should make your items appear again.

If you do encounter a wipe that occurs after installing the patch and is not resolved following a game restart, you will need to report it on the Edge Case sub-thread.

"While we are confident that the patch will prevent inventory wipes in the future, we do want to use the weekend to continue monitoring the situation and ensure that no more players are encountering any related issues before we move onto the restoration process," said People Can Fly.

"As soon as we are satisfied with the patch’s effectiveness, we will share extra details including timelines of our upcoming Inventory Restoration process."

The team will continue to look into how to improve the restoration process, but the main goal has been preventing any further inventory wipes. If anyone is currently encountering a “Couldn’t Connect to Server” error, the characters being used will see inventories returned and become fully playable again as soon as the restoration process has completed.
