Outlast 3 coming "at some point", first two games headed to Switch, Outlast VR probably happening

Here's a stack of news about Outlast, for those of you with the cardiac strength to bear it.

Outlast and Outlast 2 are coming to Switch, Red Barrels has announced. Look for them to hit Nintendo's hybrid console in the first three months of 2018. Why, that's hardly any time to wait at all!

Red Barrels tucked this interesting bit of news at the bottom of a Facebook status update in which it outlined its immediate plans for the Outlast franchise.

First up: there will be no DLC for Outlast 2. Unlike the first game, it was not designed with DLC in mind.

For those of you waiting on some of the mysteries in Outlast 2, take heart: red Barrels said that it will make Outlast 3 "at some point" and that "answers will be given". Good to know. Closure helps a lot with deeply traumatic horror.

Speaking of deep trauma, Red Barrels also said it's working on something else Outlast-related. I'll quote verbatim so you can separate the actual information from my subsequent wild speculation:

"Currently we’re working on something a lot of you have been asking for... It won’t be a sequel to Outlast or Outlast 2, but it will be a distinct experience set in the Outlast universe," Red Barrels wrote.

"We can’t say more right now, we first need to make sure we can make it work. Like I mentioned, we strive to be risk-takers and this one is a pretty big challenge. If all goes well, we’ll soon be able to reveal more."

Well if that isn't Outlast VR I'll have to buy another nacho hat and eat it, making two such incidents in 12 months.
